The chill

Damn snow, always falling. She felt trapped by it. Wanted it to go away. Longed for the warmth of a summers day.
Sitting there looking out her window she could see its beauty but did not feel it. It only left her chilled.

Somewhere behind her he stood, looking at her in the fading light. She never failed to amaze him. How much younger she looked than her actual age. No wonder boys half her age kept hitting on her. But she was his and reminded him of it always.
He saw her shiver from the cold and grabbed and extra blanket. With one swish he had wrapped it and himself around her. Catching a flash of a smile across her face. Even in the foulest of moods his presence could make her instantly happier.
He had that effect on almost everyone, but most assuredly on her.

Sitting there curled up watching the world go by he whispered in her ear. I love you my princess. A glow cast over her like a warm summer sun. It radiated out from her heart like dripping honey. Coating everything in sweet bliss. How he managed to have that effect on her, well she was not quite sure, but he did. He could warm her to the melting point with just one kiss.
Those soft, sweet, love affirming kisses.

As he lifted her in his arms she was aware of only one thing,, there was no longer a chill.

thank you. That is how he makes me feel. Even if there are times when he does not grasp the depth of it.
